"Scripture, like art, is subject to interpretation"

If you would have asked Rev. Rebecca Craig when she graduated from high school what she would be doing 25+ years later, teaching religion and serving as a full-time pastor would have been the last thing she would have imagined.

In 1995 she graduated from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln with a Bachelor of Journalism then moved to Burbank, CA where she pursued a career in Hollywood. For several years she worked in Story Development for Walt Disney Feature Animation before transitioning to marketing and advertising. In 2001, she moved back to Lincoln, Nebraska though continued her work as a marketing director in Pasadena.

The call to attend Luther Seminary came in 2004, surprising her as much as anyone else. In 2008 she graduated with a Masters in Divinity and was ordained in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America in 2009.

She has served as an Associate Pastor in both Nebraska and Florida since that time and teaches World Religions as an adjunct instructor.

Rebecca continues to implement her love for art in both her teaching and her ministries. She uses art as a means through which to express the divine encounter with God, and to help students delve deeper into their own faith by having to creatively express their faith and religious understandings. "Scripture, like art, is subject to interpretation. They are both encounters with the divine – and how we interpret that encounter."
